Director - Krenie Stowe, M.D., J.D. I received my BA from Yale University in 1981 and my M.D.
from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1985. I received my
J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1990. I completed my pediatric
internship at Bellevue and University Hospitals in 1986 in New York
and my pediatric residency at Montefiore Medical Center's
Residency Programs in Social Medicine in 1992. Following that, I
spent 2 years practicing medicine on a remote Native American
territory in North Dakota. In 1994, I came to Tomball, Texas, where
my mother, Dr. Maria Frontis Stowe, and I co-founded a non-profit
health care facility, the Frontis Project, Inc. For over 10 years,
with only 5-6 staff, the Frontis Project provided health care and
social and support services to over 11,000 children and their
families in 8 Texas counties. No one was ever denied care because
they could not pay for it. Since resigning my position as Medical
Director of the Frontis Project in December 2004, I
have written and published a book about my experiences in
medicine, "A Doctor's Story: A Personal Journey & A Call for
Reform". I have also been involved in the support and creation
of democratic, self-directed educational alternatives for
children. We are now in the process of starting a learning
community called The Real School a.k.a. Dragon Valley. It is
a student centered, consensus based model that supports
learning free of coercion and control. As of April 2006, I am also
practicing in a more traditional medical setting, Maternal and
Family Clinic, 27854 IH 45 North, Conroe, 77385;
281-419-1599. I am a board-eligible pediatrician and a
licensed physician in the state of Texas since 1994. I remain
a member of the New York Bar.

Consultant - Maria Frontis Stowe,
M.D. She received her B.A. from Columbia University in 1972 and her M.D.
from Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1977. Prior to
medical school, she worked for the City of New York for 7 years as
a youth worker and program planner in urban ghettos focusing on
at-risk adolescents such as drug addicts and pregnant teens. While
in medical school, she worked in areas of abject poverty in rural
Mexico and also arranged to do clinical rotations at Memorial
Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. The contrast proved
truly educational. Following medical school, she worked extensively
in the field of obstetrics and gynecology in Mexico and opened a
maternal and family health care clinic in Juarez. After leaving
Mexico in 1980, she worked as a family therapist for 12 years. In
1994, she co-founded the Frontis Project, as described above, and
functioned as its Executive Director for 11 years. Dr.
Maria Frontis Stowe has extensive experience in the
areas of psychotherapy, addictive behaviors, sexuality,
breastfeeding, and family planning. She is passionately interested
in the evolutionary history and psychology of sexuality and
reproduction and their effect on reproductive decision-making.
She plans to write and further develop theories on these and
related topics. She is currently working on an autobiography.
Dr. Marie Frontis Stowe is not licensed to
practice medicine in Texas and functions purely as a consultant for
